Scordle Games — Terms of Use
Last updated: 23rd July 2026
Effective date: 23rd July 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Xerica Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company no. 05222460, registered office Woodlands Grange, Woodlands Lane, Bradley Stoke, Bristol, BS32 4JY) (“we”, “us”, “our”), which operates the Scordle Games mobile app (“Scordle”, “the app”).
By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Scordle Games.
1. What Scordle Games is
Scordle Games lets you record your scores from daily online word and number puzzle games, track your statistics and streaks, form private clubs with friends, run competitions, and react to and comment on each other's results in a social feed. All of this is private to the clubs you belong to.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or older if your local law requires a higher age to consent to online services) to use Scordle Games.
3. Your account and security
- Scordle Games has no username or password. When you register you choose a nickname, and your device proves its identity using a cryptographic key stored securely on the device.
- You'll be given a recovery code. It's the only way to recover your account on a new device. Keep it safe and private — anyone who has it can access or delete your account. We can't recover your account for you if you lose it.
- You're responsible for activity that happens through your account and devices.
4. Licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Scordle Games for your own non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. You must not copy, reverse-engineer, resell, or misuse the app or attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to our systems.
5. Acceptable use and user content
Scordle Games includes content created by users — nicknames, comments, and club and competition names (“user content”).
There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. You must not post or do anything that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes others' rights or privacy, or impersonates anyone.
To keep the community safe:
- You can report content or another user from within the app.
- You can block another user, which hides their content from you and stops them inviting you.
- We may remove content, restrict, or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, and we act on reports within a reasonable time.
We don't actively monitor all user content and aren't responsible for it, but we will act when content is reported or comes to our attention.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of the scores and content you create. By posting it, you grant Scordle Games a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store and display that content to the members of the clubs you share it with, solely to operate the app. You're responsible for the content you post and confirm you have the right to post it. Don't include other people's personal information in comments.
7. Third-party games and trademarks
Scordle Games is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the makers of the games whose scores you choose to log (for example Wordle and Connections, which are trademarks of The New York Times Company, or any other puzzle). All game names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the game a score relates to. Scordle Games only records the score information you choose to share into the app.
8. Purchases, subscriptions and refunds
Scordle Games is free to use with ads and optional limits. You can optionally subscribe to remove all ads.
- All purchases are made through, and billed by, the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google), who are the merchant of record.
- Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. Manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store / Google Play account settings — not in Scordle Games.
- Deleting your Scordle Games account does NOT cancel a subscription. To stop being billed you must cancel it in the store. Account deletion and subscription cancellation are separate.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies; we can't directly refund a store purchase.
- Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer (including under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015).
Prices and what each plan includes are shown in the app before you buy.
9. Ads
If you're on the free plan, we show non-personalised ads in your feed, and occasionally promote Scordle Games' own features (such as upgrading to remove ads). In the UK/EEA we ask for your consent before serving ads, and you can change it in Settings. Subscribers and lifetime users see no ads. See the Privacy Policy for how ad data is handled.
10. Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account at any time — in the app (Settings → Delete my account) or at scordle.games/delete. Deletion is immediate and irreversible. Your scores and reactions are kept but anonymised (so your friends' competitions aren't broken); your nickname and comments are deleted. See the Privacy Policy sections 6 and 8. Remember to cancel any subscription separately (section 8).
11. Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep Scordle Games available and reliable, but we may update, change or withdraw features, and the service may occasionally be unavailable. From time to time you may need to update to the latest version of the app to keep using it.
12. Disclaimers and liability
Scordle Games is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data caused by factors outside our reasonable control. We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your statutory rights as a consumer.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms (for example, the acceptable-use rules in section 5). You may stop using Scordle Games and delete your account at any time.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Scordle Games after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
